Digital Innovation in Theatre
International Theatre Conference hosted by Staatstheater Karlsruhe and ZKM | Center for Arts and Media

Initiated by the European Theatre Convention, the international conference “Digital innovation in theatre” investigated a broad spectrum of current issues related to the digitisation of theatre. It featured leading digital experts from a variety of cultural sectors who discussed creative possibilities and shared their expertise with theatre makers in panel talks, speeches, presentations and workshops. Videos of the keynotes and speeches held at the conference are available on YouTube here.  Please also have a look at the programme and the speakers in the conference brochure and read our blogpost on the field survey on digitisation in theatre amongst the particpants from all over Europe. Results are quite interesting and representative for the situation in state funded European theatres today. The conference was held at the renowned Center of Arts and Media (ZKM) in Karlsruhe, also partner in our advisory board and hosted by Staatstheater Karlsruhe, partner in the ETL project “Stage Your City”.

 

From Mythology to Technology
International digital theatre conference hosted by Kote Marjanishvili State Drama Theatre

Georgian capital Tbilisi was the destination for “From Mythology to Technology”, the International Theatre Conference hosted by Kote Marjanishvili State Drama Theatre and taking place at Writer’s House in Tbilisi. Over 60 participants from more than a dozen countries attended the event that investigated new forms of theatre-making to attract new audiences, bringing theatre’s vitality and immediacy online and to new communities, and building on successful audience development initiatives by Opera Vision and Opera Europa. Conference speakers and panelists includes Georgian author/playwright Lasha Bugadze (Marjanishvili Theatre), Ekaterina Mazmishvili (General Manager Marjanishvili Theatre, Tbilisi), Luke O’Shaughnessy (Opera Vision, Opera Europa), Chris Bruckmayr (Sound artist and creative producer for at Ars Electronica in Linz, Austria) and Alexander Kerlin (Dramaturg and author, Theatre Dortmund, Germany).
